Christ the Redeemer - Corcovado Mountain
The Christ statue is one of the most visited places in Rio de Janeiro: an impressive statue located on the summit of Corcovado mountain, 710 meters (2,330 feet) above sea level, which can be seen from anywhere in the city and offers a splendid views.
This tour ascends Corcovado by cog wheel train through the Tijuca Forest, a place of exuberant beauty. The statue of Christ with open arms is an icon of Rio de Janeiro, built between 1926-1931, and is one of the most visited and visible places in the city.
The base of the statue of Christ has a series of platforms at different levels with the highest being at the feet of the monument. Visitors go up from one platform to the next by stairs, where different panoramic views of the city can be enjoyed. On the platforms there is a tourist information centre, gift shops, toilets and bars.
When going up the platforms, you will first see the south area of Rio de Janeiro, with Ipanema and Leblon beaches, the Botanical Garden, and most of Tijuca Park visible. To the north Copacabana, Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain will be visible. Whereas from the front side of the statue of Christ, the centre of Rio is visible together with some unforgettable views.
Sugar Loaf Mountain – City Tour
The city tour of Rio de Janeiro will visit the main tourist attractions of the city: Flamenco Park, the city centre, Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Maracana football stadium and the famous Sambodromo – the place where the famous carnivals of Rio are celebrated every year.
The tour then arrives to Sugar Loaf mountain, one of the icons of Rio de Janeiro which receives a million visitors every year. It is located on a small peninsula in the entrance to Guanabara bay. Sugar Loaf mountain is 396 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level, is a site of natural beauty and offers the possibility of observing Rio de Janeiro from above.
The ascent will start at the foot of the mountain in the Urca are, where enclosed cable cars will take you up the Sugar Loaf. The fully glazed cars will offer you excellent panoramic view.
The first sector of the ascent arrives at the top of Urca mountain, at 220 meters (722 feet). Urca’s summit is large, with pathways meandering through vegetation and natural viewpoints at different altitudes, with fantastic views of Copacabana beach, the sea, Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado mountain, the city centre, and Guanabara and Niteroi bays. The second cable car takes you to the summit of Sugar Loaf mountain from where you may enjoy the panoramic views of the region.
Tropical Islands
To the south of Rio de Janeiro lies the fishing harbour of Itacuruçá with its coast of warm crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches and lush green vegetation, located on a quiet little cove of the Sepetiba bay that shelters stunning tropical islands. The Tropical Islands tour starts with a journey along the road to Rio Santos continuing to Itacuruçá to board a schooner (saveiro). A tray of tropical fruits will be served on board and a bar will also be available. The schooner crosses the Bahía de Sepetiba, an area rich in natural beauty where it is common for passengers to see dolphins, giant kingfishers, parrots, turtles and manta rays. After stopping for a swim in the transparent and warm waters of the bay, the voyage will continue to one of the tropical islands where a delicious buffet will be served for lunch. After lunch, there will still be time to explore the island before returning to Itacuruçá and Río de Janeiro.
Samba – Traditional Show
Rio de Janeiro is a city that never sleeps, and the Carioca night offers the perfect option for those who want to experiment a little bit of Brazilian culture for themselves. This tour will take you to a show of the highest standard, where artists, musicians and dancers will put on a spectacular show full of colours, lights, typical costumes and rhythms in their dances: the bossa nova, capoeira, samba and more.
