Argentina - Puerto Iguazú
Situated in the northeast of Argentina, the city of Puerto Iguazú is 1284km away from the capital of Buenos Aires, and borders onto Brazil and Paraguay by way of the Paraná and Iguazú Rivers. Being a touristic destination, it provides for the greatest spectacle of water and forest that exists on Earth, the imposing waterfalls of Iguazú, which in the local guaraní language means "big waters".
The region has a humid subtropical climate without a dry season, with temperatures ranging from 20º-33ºC in summer while winter is mild and pleasant. Various excursions to Iguazú National Park, declared Natural patrimony of humanity by the UNESCO, to visit some of the 275 waterfalls and where you will learn about the exotic flora and fauna, are the most popular choice for visitors.
Puerto Iguazú is a place to be amazed by nature and one of its greatest expressions of beauty.
Here are some of the excursions from Puerto Iguazú that we include in out itineraries:
Iguazú Falls - Argentina
Spectacular views as you walk through the heart of the jungle. This tour visits the park by walking along walkways into the forest that take you closer to the falls. A lower path runs for about 1,200 meters along the river side passing through the base of some waterfalls. An upper path allows you to observe the falls from above. After traversing these paths you will arrive at Garganta station on the Tren Ecológico de la Selva (the jungle ecological train) and from there arrive at the views of Garganta del Diablo falls which with a height of 90 metres are the largest in the Iguazú complex. The sensation caused by the magnitude and force of the falling water is unequalled elsewhere. The wild thunder is so strong that it can be heard several miles away. The large amount of haze in the gorge causes a large variety of constantly changing rainbows to be formed.
Iguazú Falls - Brazil
Seeing the falls from the Brazilian side offers another view of the stunning landscape of Iguazú falls. After crossing into Brazil the excursion continues to the Hotel Das Cataratas, a beautiful Portuguese colonial style building where you can appreciate panoramic views of the Garganta del Diablo and the semicircle of waterfalls. An elevator allows for views of the falls from another equally spectacular perspective.
Rafain Folklore Show
This restaurant is typical highlight of the tourist circuit in Foz do Iguaçú on the Brazilian side of the falls. This is a show that includes traditional performances from the Pampa to Mexico through Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. Throughout the show, you will be surprised by the special effects, music, dances, and typical dresses, accompanied by a delicious dinner buffet with a wide variety of meats, salads, cold dishes and desserts.
