Also called the ‘Tren de los Presos’ (The Prisoner Train), it is a replica of the train that used to transport prisoners to work in order to supply Ushuaia with timber some 100 years ago.

At the End of the World Station, passengers can visit the maintenance workshops that manufacture spare parts for the locomotives and wagons. It is also possible to visit a museum that has photographic displays illustrating the history of this train.

The train leaves from the End of the World Station on exactly the same embankment used by prisoners some 100 years ago, and travels into the Cañadón del Toro gorge and crosses Río Pipo river over the Quemado Bridge. The train then stops at Cascada de la Macarena station, where you will be able to see a recreation of an indigenous Yámana settlement, one of the native tribes that inhabited these lands hundreds of years ago. The train then continues the journey through Sub-Antarctic forest, one of the few existing in the world, skirting a typical peat bog and then arriving at Estación del Parque station inside the park.

Here, it is possible to walk around the Tierra del Fuego National Park, created in 1960, and extending over an area of 63,000 hectares (155,673 acres) and located in the eco-regions of the Patagonian forest and the high Andes.
